Prof. Dr. Gülüsan Ozgün Basibüyük completed her undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies in Anthropology at Ankara University between 1995 and 2007. She began her academic career in 2003 as a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at Cumhuriyet University. Since 2017, she has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Gerontology at Akdeniz University Faculty of Health Sciences. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on aging, physical anthropology, ergonomics, digitalization, and social participation.
Prof. Dr. Başıbüyük’s work centers on contemporary issues such as the social adaptation of older adults, the design of age-friendly environments, and digital media usage in later life. Her studies contribute to the rethinking of the aging experience through participatory and socially engaged approaches. With her numerous academic publications, she continues to make significant theoretical and practical contributions to the field of gerontology.
She has presented her work at various national and international scientific events and has supervised many master's and doctoral theses. In addition to her academic research, she actively participates in the “60+ Refreshment University” social responsibility project, volunteering to promote the quality of life and social integration of older adults.
