Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Korkmaz Yaylagül is a Professor of Gerontology. She currently serves as Chair of the Department of Gerontology and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Akdeniz University, Türkiye, and has extensive academic and leadership experience. She completed her postdoctoral research at the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, University of Oxford. Her interdisciplinary background combines gerontology, social anthropology, and health sciences, focusing particularly on socio-cultural aspects of ageing and older care.
Prof. Dr. Yaylagül has contributed significantly to international research initiatives, related to ageing studies, social exclusion, and digitalization in old age. She has published extensively on topics such as active ageing, ageing in rural areas, intergenerational relations, informal care, and age-friendly environments. In 2024, she chaired the 11th International Symposium on Social and Applied Gerontology. With her academic studies and fostering international collaborations, she contributes to the growth of knowledge in ageing studies.
