Sarah Donnelly

Dr Sarah Donnelly is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice, University College Dublin where she has worked since 2014. Before this, Sarah worked as a senior medical social worker at Tallaght University Hospital for 15 years and worked in a variety of clinical areas including Age-Related Healthcare and Neurology. Sarah has acted as co-convenor of the European Network for Gerontological Social Work 2018-2023 and is an Academic Advisor on adult safeguarding to the Irish Association of Social Workers. Sarah is an editorial board member for the European Social Work Research Journal and has recently co-edited ‘Critical Gerontology for Social Workers’ Book (2022, Policy Press). Sarah’s research interests include ageing, dementia, capacity and decision-making, carer harm and adult safeguarding.
